Bigger ThanThe BooksPrivacy Policy
Effective October 24, 2026
1. Who we are
This policy explains what information Bigger Than The Books ("BTTB," "we," "us") collects when you use biggerthanthebooks.com and its home-screen app (the "Site"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It is part of our Terms and Conditions. If the two ever differ about your personal information, this policy controls.
The Site is for people 21 and older in the United States. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21. If you believe someone under 21 has given us information, tell us through Report a problem and we will delete it.
2. What we collect
Information you give us or that comes from how you sign in:
Account details: your name, email address and profile picture from Google or X if you sign in with them, or the username you choose if you create a username account. We store a secure, one-way hash of a username account's password, never the password itself.
Your settings: favorite teams and sports, notification choices, which tab and board you were last on, and whether you agreed to the Terms and which version.
What you post: chat messages, reactions, photos you post in chat, your profile photo, slips you share, picks you lock in, and reports you send us.
Betslips you upload: screenshots are read by software in your browser to find the bets on them. A screenshot used only to build a betslip on the Site is not sent to us. When you track a slip you already placed, we store its screenshots and the bets found on them with that slip so you can see them; deleting the slip deletes them. Do not upload images that show account numbers or other details you do not want stored.
Payments, once paid access starts: your plan and whether it is active. Card details go straight to our payment processor (Stripe) and are never stored by us.
Information collected automatically:
Device and network information: your IP address, browser and device type, whether you use the home-screen app, and the general location your network address points to (city, region and country, never your precise location). We collect this on the password and sign-in screens to keep the Site secure and to count visits.
How you use the Site: the screens and features you open and for how long, what you add to or do with your betslip, which alerts you tap, and the links you follow out of the Site.
Notification tokens, only if you turn on notifications, so your device can receive the alerts you asked for.
Cookies and local storage: small files the Site needs to keep you signed in, remember that you passed today's password, and remember your settings on your device. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.
3. How we use it
To run the Site: sign you in, show your account, picks, chat and tracked slips, grade results, and send the notifications you turned on.
To keep it secure: spot repeated failed password or sign-in attempts, stop abuse, and enforce the Terms.
To improve it: understand which features people use and where the Site breaks.
To handle paid access, receipts and support, once paid access starts.
To meet legal obligations and protect our rights and the safety of others.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising that follows you across other sites or apps.
5. How long we keep it
We keep account information while your account is open. Chat messages and photos in the Lobby are cleared each morning. Security and visit logs are kept as long as needed to protect the Site. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within 30 days, except what we must keep to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes or prevent fraud.
No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure. We use encrypted connections and limit who can access personal information, but we cannot guarantee its security.
6. Your choices and rights
See and change your settings, favorite teams and notifications in the Site at any time. Turn notifications off in the Site or in your device or browser settings.
Ask for a copy of your personal information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account, through Report a problem in the account menu. We answer within 30 days and may need to confirm the request comes from you.
Clear the Site's cookies and local storage in your browser. You will be signed out and your on-device settings reset.
Depending on where you live, state law may give you more rights, such as knowing what we collect and why, or opting out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information, and we honor these requests from any member, wherever you live.
Do Not Track: some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no common standard for it, so the Site does not respond to it. We do not track you across other sites in any case.
7. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we will update the effective date above, and for a material change we will tell you on the Site before it applies. Continuing to use the Site after the change means you accept the updated policy.
8. Contact
Questions and privacy requests go to Report a problem in the account menu on the Site.
